Thompson Boats are renowned for their strength of construction, longevity, and comfortable ride. New for the 1957 model year, the Sea Lancer from Thompson Boats of New York (Cortland, NY) made quite a splash upon introduction. In 1959, gone was the original bow design in favor of a clipper bow, redesigned with more flare for a drier ride. Construction is of lapstrake marine plywood (Douglas Fir) over steam-bent oak frames, with oak or mahogany trim, mahogany window frame, white oak stem and keel, and silicon-bronze screws. This utility runabout is currently in our shop undergoing restoration.
Constructed in Cortland, NY in 1959. Additional research on provenance and ownership history is ongoing.
